There have been some serious moves afoot at the Killarney Showgrounds this year!
In July, the Supper Room was moved to a new home in pride of place at the side of the Show Arena. We were fortunate to receive a grant to restump the building. Keep an eye out for further action….
The old show pavilion has been adopted by the
Killarney Pony Club and moved to a new location in early August. KPC will now begin the task of transforming it into their new home. One of the key features of this building is the original Crow’s Ash floor, one of the only things remaining of the building after the tornado in 1968!
These two buildings have worked long and hard for many, many years. But like some hard working committee members were beginning to get a bit tired.
After some new stumps and TLC they will live to bring joy to many more people!
This move is one of the key steps in the Show Society’s 25 year plan. We are very excited to see some of the hard work put into the plan finally paying off.
Our goal is to make the Show Grounds a valuable asset for entire Killarney Community. We are very satisfied to see these historic buildings take their place in a new future!
